Chatbook by Shhalaj

About

A reading companion from a publisher

Chatbook comes from Shhalaj Publishing House, a family business in the book trade since 1938, with more than 600 titles published.

Why we built it

Readers come to many of our books with a question: a parent wants to know what a handbook says about one problem, a student needs the chapter on one idea, a reader wants to go back to a point they half remember. Chatbook lets them ask the book directly.

How it works

For each book, Chatbook uses the book's own text. When you ask a question, it finds the passages that match and writes an answer from them, with chapter references. It does not search the internet and it does not add knowledge from outside the book.

Free chats use only the free sample, the opening part of the book, the same part you can read for free on book.shhalaj.com. Readers who own the eBook can chat with the whole book.

What Chatbook is not

Chatbook is an AI tool and is labelled that way. It is not the author, it does not speak for the author, and its answers are not professional advice. For health, legal or money matters, please talk to a qualified person.

It is in beta

Chatbook is new, and we are starting with a small number of books. Answers can sometimes miss things, so please check important points against the book. If an answer looks wrong, use the feedback buttons in the chat or tell us.

Your questions and privacy

We store the questions people ask so we can check answer quality and make Chatbook better. Please do not type personal or sensitive details into the chat. Chatbook sets no tracking cookies. The Shhalaj privacy policy explains how we handle data.
